Many people love to read and collect rare books.

   It’s important to realize that this type of book presents many difficulties in the marketplace.    For one thing, old books are often in bad shape.    There may be very few readers who want the book, and there may be newer and cheaper editions of the same book that are more practical for daily use.

   That being said, there are many old books that are extremely valuable for their content or historical significance.    This type of book is sought by museums, countries, researchers, and high-end collectors.   There may be only one, or just a few originals left, so the price can be astronomical.

If you have some old books you would like to sell try a local dealer in collectible books.   Many local dealers have access to other sellers and collectors who may desire what you have.    Then try online.   Be careful to research what you actually have.  Plenty of people have sold things not realizing their true value.  On the other hand, don’t get inflated ideas either.    Be realistic, because old books have few buyers.
